My first ever Exec role was as Membership Secretary. It is one of the best roles to hold within an Exec: it allows for the greatest possible opportunity for engagement with other members while being a less public-facing role. This gives a much greater opportunity for me to listen and talk to members and bring forward those views and concerns without the perils of the distractions that can—and indeed often are—caused by holding a public-facing role. I wish for my main focus to be on the members, and representing their voice to the Exec in the most effective way I can.
